Translating Kitsumkalum’s Community Guidelines into Visuals

Project Overview

Elkplan was invited to present Kitsumkalum community guidelines in a way that's clear and visually engaging for everyone, while staying aligned with policy goals. In partnership with Situate Inc., we took the lead on creating custom illustrations and graphic designs, while Situate focused on enhancing the written guidelines.

Purpose

We were tasked with designing five large posters featuring digitally hand-drawn illustrations for a series of community planning guideline documents for Kitsumkalum. These posters cover Industrial, Environmental, Community Core, and Neighbourhood Guidelines, as well as a Land Use Map.

Outcomes

We took a close look at the technical guidelines and turned them into a series of five visually engaging posters that explained community land use guidelines for development.

The design and illustrations were refined through multiple rounds of feedback from Kitsumkalum, ensuring everything was just right.

Impact
