Actionable Placemaking Concepts for Downtown Abbotsford

Project Overview

In partnership with City Insights Consulting, Elkplan delivered an engagement program and developed placemaking concepts, along with a comprehensive strategy for the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association.

Purpose

Elkplan was brought on board to gather input from local businesses and partners, analyze the existing placemaking elements in the downtown area, and create a strategy to guide future placemaking efforts.

Outcomes

We developed a full set of graphic resources to support the engagement process, including meeting invitations and a visually appealing online survey. Elkplan also contributed to two 50-page reports: an interim strategic review and a final strategy document. Additionally, we co-facilitated two engagement sessions with business owners and partners, capturing their ideas live using digital graphic facilitation.

Impact

Based on the feedback from these engagement sessions and our research, Elkplan created a series of concept sketches outlining key placemaking initiatives the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association could pursue to advance their vision for the community.
